Giorgos Tzigounakis

PT, BSc Acu. ΜSc TCM, MBAcC, MCSP

Giorgos Tzigounakis is a healthcare professional with a strong academic background and extensive experience in the field of acupuncture, physiotherapy, and nutritional medicine.

He completed his undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom, graduating with First Class Honours/Distinction in BSc (Hons) Acupuncture from the University of East London (UEL). During his studies, he completed a clinical placement of over 400 hours in the university’s clinic, which provided him with valuable hands-on experience in treating patients with a variety of medical conditions.

He then pursued his interest in physiotherapy in order to further solidified his knowledge and expertise in musculoskeletal conditions and rehabilitation and graduated with First Class Honours/Distinction in BSc (Hons) Applied Physiotherapy from the University of Coventry. His innovative and pioneering research dissertation, “Effect of Sound as a Pseudo-drug,” earned him an additional honors award from Aegean College – Omiros Educational Group. Moreover, he obtained a Certification in the application of Digital Thermography for Sports and Health.

Giorgos continued his postgraduate studies completing a 3-year MSc of Medicine in Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and Tuina at the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM), in China. This experience provided him with an in-depth understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and further refined his skills in acupuncture. In parallel to his postgraduate studies he participated in numerous seminars, conferences and workshops of acupuncture, including but not limited to scalp acupuncutre, si yuan – balance method, and auricular acupuncture.

Giorgos’s pursuit of knowledge and expertise continued completing his postgraduate studies in Nutritional Medicine (MSc) at the University of Surrey, UK. Additionally, he holds a Certificate in Nutritional Psychology (Cert. Nutritional Psychology) from John F. Kennedy University.

He is also an active member and volunteer at Doctors of the World Greece (MdM), using his expertise to help underserved communities. He is a certified lifeguard, gym instructor, and a Professor in the art of Capoeira, which speak to his commitment to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Giorgos is the Vice president of the Hellenic Society of Chinese Medicine, and a lecturer and tutor in various educational programs on acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
